A Business Plan with A Server The hotel business is something I’m incredibly interested in, due to the fact that I see it as a huge opportunity to make tremendous profits. One day I would like to own my own hotel business, but I want to own various hotels, not just one. Titan Inn would be the name of my hotel business and our services would include, breakfast, decent prices, room service, pool service, free Wi-Fi. All these services would be crucial to provide a great customer service and be certain customers are returning to my hotel business at a consecutive rate. In short, a database server would be extraordinarily useful for a hotel business, for the sole purpose of storage. Various companies also fax over documentation of their company in conjunction with an employee’s details who will attend the hotel later that week. The fax server will be put to use generally in reservation confirmations and customer details. A fundamental necessity of a hotel business is that of a printer server. A printer would be put to use on an everyday basis for proper documentation. In order to be efficient, a printer server needs to be used for copying and printing anything that is required. Such as a customer’s folio, a reservation number, a customer’s confirmation, etc. Furthermore, during a check-in, a customer needs to sign a printed document which applies they’re the ones staying inside the room and are in agreement with the stay amount. These documents are essential because they’re documents needed in case of an emergency situation or legal reasons. Certainly, a web server is of extensive use for a hotel business, by reason of an internet connection for the customers and clients. In my vision of hotel chains, free Wi-Fi must be enabled to every customer staying in the hotel. In the interest of a free Wi-Fi hotel, a web server would be required to ease the process. Gorman February 13, 2012 Mercantilism is an economic policy and theory where the government has complete control of trade, both foreign and inside boundaries. This policy was dominant during the 16th, 17th, and late 18th centuries, it demanded a positive balance of trade between the countries it was involved with. There were many policies that were within the theory based upon mercantilism including, building a network of overseas colonies and forbidding them to trade with other nations, forbidding trade to be carried in foreign ships, export as a trade barrier using domestic goods and services competitive against†¦show more content†¦It appeared that the break down of this mercantilist relationship between the United States colonies and Britain along with the split of America from the British Empire was unavoidable. Before the French and Indian war, Britain was having a hard time keeping up with and maintaining regulations that they had placed upon the colonies. The trade laws were inadequately implemented and the colonies were able to go about their own political and economic systems independently. But, with the close of the war Parliament concluded the time of this neglect of enforcement and became more dominate with the colonies in order to reestablish complete control over their trade. Pervious laws that were established to benefit Britain were enforced harshly and new laws were also applied to further benefit the British. This led to animosity between Britain and the colonies because the colonies experienced economic independence for too long a period causing the colonists to have no desire to return to how things used to be. The aggressive application of the Navigation Act to the colonists subdued their manufacturing operations and increased resentment against the British Parliamentary. Th e severe enforcement of these laws led to inflation and alienation in the colonies, neither of which benefited the British Empire. Geoff is a little bit different than the other two that I interviewed. While both of the previous people worked for international corporations that had executives and a board of directors, Geoff works for a pizza franchise. While it does have half a dozen stores throughout South Florida, it is simply not at the same scale as these previous companies. However, it is interesting to note that he complains of similar issues as the other two. Namely – lack of planning. Geoff does not have higher than a high school education. In fact, he dropped out of high school at 16 and ended up getting his G.E.D at the age of 19. After getting his GED, he started working at various restaurants as a waiter, delivery driver, and eventually he got into†¦show more content†¦When I asked Geoff about what kind of difficulties he faces at work he said that he has a problem finding good people. Because he cannot afford to pay very much, good employees often leave for better jobs whenever they find them. He doesn’t hold the employees personally responsible but it is difficult to keep training new people constantly. Also, it’s difficult to keep people happy because the hours are inconsistent. Sometimes there is a lot of movement at the restaurant so he needs at least 8 people working at once. Sometimes it is slow and he doesn’t need more than 4. It doesn’t make sense to pay 8 people when you have can make due with 4, but the employees complain about not getting consistent hours. Another complaint that Geoff had was that he had to do a lot of different jobs around the restaurant. When it is busy for example, if there needs to be an extra person bussing, he has to take care of that. If there needs to be another person making pizzas, he does it. He called himself the â€Å"support role of the operation.† I found this interesting because the other two people I interviewed had no issue with this because they had specific people for each job. McTeague Persuasive Essay Golden streets of san francisco In 1899, when Frank Norris published his epic novel McTeague, San Francisco was still reeling from the excesses of the 1849 Gold Rush. Fortune-hunters had swelled the citys ranks, and while the most remained poor, the tantalizing aroma of instant wealth hung in the air. In McTeague, Norris captured this San Francisco in meticulous detail, realistically portraying a society ill-prepared for sudden riches.The Berkeley Repertory Company of California has evoked this same time and place for its premiere staging of Norriss novel, which runs through Feb. 27. In a faithful adaptation by Neal Bell, McTeague (played by Jeffrey King) is portrayed as a simple brute who was raised in the Sierra Gold Mines, apprenticed to a wandering dentist and at last settled in a small practice on the corner of Geary and Kearny Streets in San Francisco. He courts and marries Trina Sieppe (Melissa Fraser Brown), the cousin of his best friend Marcus (Charles Dean). After Trina wins $5,000 in the lottery, the corrupting power of money overtakes their lives, resulting in a gradual and inevitable descent into violence and death.A story of obvious regional interest, McTeague first gained national attention with the 1925 release of Erich Von Stroheims controversial film adaptation, Greed. Originally intending to film the novel page-by-page, Von Stroheim shot the entire film on location an unprecedented event. The result was a nine-hour epic which recreated the novels opening scene of McTeagues dental parlor and the streets outside, and then rambled through Oakland, a city park, the Sierras and finally Death Valley.
